SCI Cluster
SCI Cluster
Welcome to the information source for the SCI cluster
The SCI cluster is a 64 node "Beowulf" style cluster computer consisting of
dual 1.8GHz AMD Athlon nodes with 2GB RAM, all running Debian Linux. They have
ethernet and SCI for network access. The nodes boot over the network and mount
a read only Debian image over NFS. Local disk is used for swap space and
/scratch. The primary purposes of the cluster are to develop efficient methods
for performing parallel computations on state-of-the-art clusters, and to apply
these methods to grand challenge problems in chemistry, physics and related
fields. This cluster was made possible by a grant from the U.S. Department of
Energy.
