pCluster hardware configuration
The cluster currently consists of 32 IBM RS/6000 pSeries p640
servers. Each p640 is
configured as follows:
IBM RS/6000 pSeries p640 with:
- 4 Power3II processors running at 375MHz (PPC 64 bit compliant)
- 4 MB of Level 2 cache per processor
- 16 GB of RAM
- 9 GB system disk
- 4 striped 36GB or 73GB disks for local use (leading to ~144GB of ~288GB for
scratch)
- Integrated dual Fast-Ethernet
- dual Gigabit Ethernet on a 64 bit PCI cards
- dual Myrinet 2000 NICs (planned)
The aggregate system is thus:
- 128 processors capable of 192 GFLOPs peak performance
- 512 GB of RAM
- over 6 TeraBytes of disk
- over 4 Gigabits/sec aggregate communications bandwidth per node(planned)
