Inside the USA

Commercial

Commercial users should use the ViaCrypt version to be free of RSA patent infringement problems with RSA Data Security and the IDEA patents held by Ascom-Tech AG and ETH.

Government

Government users should use the ViaCrypt versions to comply with the license agreement between Phillip Zimmermann and ViaCrypt and the IDEA patents held by Ascom-Tech AG and ETH.

Personal

The MIT release is recommended for non-commercial and non-government use. It should be free of patent and licensing problems for personal use.
